Canadian institutions will receive the funding from DFATD via a contribution agreement and will disburse it to the successful candidates according to their internal processes. The Canadian institution may be eligible for reimbursement of additional employer compliance fees paid to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.

Visiting students are invited to apply for these programs through Momentum, the online application system used by Global Affairs Canada. Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program (ELAP)
ELAP scholarships provide students from post-secondary institutions in Latin America and the Caribbean with short-term exchange opportunities to study or conduct research at Canadian universities. The scholarship covers tuition fees, living expenses and travel costs for the duration of the exchange. In addition, the award will cover up to CAD $11,100 for graduate students (Master’s and PhD) to help with additional research-related expenses such as books and supplies, excluding computers.
The scholarship is available to students enrolled in undergraduate, master’s or doctoral programs at any university in Canada. In order to apply, students must be able to demonstrate academic merit and their strong commitment to their field of research.
